Anna Black – Black Women Making History

Killeen resident Anna Black has published her first novel, “Now You Wanna Come Back.” She describes the book as romance and suspense with a little twist of drama to keep the reader wondering.

The story is about a woman who thought she would never stop loving her husband. Although he treated her badly, she still believed that someday he would come back to her. Another man comes into the woman’s life and rescues her, taking away her pain and insecurities so she can finally let go. But her husband refuses to let her move on without him and is determined to get her back at any cost.

Black has been writing for about 10 years and began creating short stories and poetry before she got the idea for her first book.

“I have always had a passion for reading,” Black said. “The more I read, the more I thought that I have things I want to say too.”

The idea for this book came to her when she was working at a store in the mall. A customer came in and started flirting with her and she started fooling with her wedding ring to show him she was married and the story started there, she said.

“I build what I want to say and it all just comes to me as I write,” Black said about her writing process. “I don’t like to focus on a lot of scenery. I try to get the story out with enough detail to get to the topic.”

“Now You Wanna Come Back” was released in May and was published by Infinity Publishing. Her next book, “Luck of the Draw,” is due to be released in April 2010. Black has completed seven books, which will be released one by one. Her current focus is promoting “Now You Wanna Come Back.”

Black, originally from Chicago, has been a Killeen resident for about eight years. She, her husband and daughter relocated to the area when her husband was in the military. The family stayed in Killeen because it is centrally located and a good environment to raise children. With her being from Chicago and her husband from New York, Killeen is a good middle ground, Black said.

“I see my future as being a best-selling author. I have no other goal,” Black said. “I want to be an accomplished writer.”
