Linda A. Haywood, is a Licensed Minister at the Romulus Community Baptist Church, shepherded by Reverend Hiram McBurrows Jr. in Romulus, Michigan. She has a passion for teaching God’s Word and branching into the arena of public speaking.

She has also spoken at various churches on issues dealing with mental illness, domestic violence and sexual assault. Linda volunteers as a member of The Safe House Center’s Survivor’s panel in Ann Arbor, Michigan which prepares new volunteers for working with survivors of domestic violence within SAFE House’s shelter and in the community.

Linda is an award-winning writer. In 1998, she received her first award, The Lorene Erickson Award for a fiction story that she wrote titled, “A Mother’s Anguish.” It is featured in Washtenaw Community College’s magazine, The Northern Spies.

She won Second Place in the 2002 Land Contest for her non-fiction story titled, Just One More Month.” It is currently published and used in Washtenaw Community College’s English 111 course packet, From One Writer to Another.

Linda has written several articles for The HIV/AIDS Resource Center (HARC), in Ypsilanti, Michigan, for the Washtenaw Community College’s The Huron Review and The Seniority News, located in Wayne, Michigan.

She is an active member of The Called and Ready Writers (CRW), a Christian writing guild in Detroit, Michigan, which she joined in September 2006. Minister Mary Edwards is the founder and Mrs. Wanda J. Burnside is the president and poetry editor.

Linda has published her autobiography titled, “Does God Really Hear Me When I Cry? A Life Transformed,” which earned Honorable Mention in the 2008 Writer’s Digest and gained acceptance into the African American Literature Special Collection at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan that same year.

She received both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Social Work at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan and is a licensed social worker working in the mental health field. Linda has been a social worker since 1998 and has worked with such diverse populations as: the aged, battered women and their children, persons living with HIV/AIDS, developmental disabilities and hospice patients.

Linda has an adult son LeeDell and an adult daughter JoWanda.
